Nashville is home to over 100 public parks, with greenways and walking and biking paths throughout downtown and residential neighborhoods, and longer hikes and parks to explore only minutes outside of the city. Did you know that Queen Victoria dubbed Nashville “Music City” after seeing a performance by the Fisk Julee Singers from Nashville’s Fisk University? While Nashville is known for its booming country music scene—home to the Grand Ole Opry and the “Mother Church of Country Music” the Ryman Auditorium—it has much to offer in all genres, including pop, rock, bluegrass, classical, jazz, and more. Ready to make Nashville home? We have a huge variety of neighborhoods to fit whatever you’re looking for. Envision yourself living here by exploring some of them below.
Full of upscale boutiques, coffee shops, iconic murals, Sevier Park, and a variety of places to eat. Mostly single-family homes in this very walkable and trendy neighborhood.
12 South
Family neighborhood, with both single-family homes and many apartment buildings with a suburban feel. This very diverse neighborhood includes the new Century Farms development with Tanger Outlets Nashville and 290,000 sq. feet of open-air retail and dining.
Antioch
West Nashville neighborhood with easy freeway access but farther out from the city’s center and a more suburban feel. A mix of families, young adults, and older residents. Home to the expansive One Bellevue Place shopping center and near the Harpeth River Greenway.
Bellevue
Eccentric neighborhood with a large variety of businesses, many operating out of 1940’s cottage-style houses. Plenty of dining and shopping options, and nearby One Hundred Oaks mall and movie theater. Great for those looking for less of an urban feel.
Berry Hill
North Nashville neighborhood with a rich history in the development of Davidson County. A mix of older and new businesses and housing, with a more suburban feel in Bordeaux, and more rural in Whites Creek. Homes are mostly spread out with lots of land. Easy access to downtown.
Bordeaux/ Whites Creek
Residential family neighborhood with the feel of its own city within Nashville. Close to the airport, as well as Nashville Shores and Wave Country water parks, and Percy Priest Lake. Home to many stores and restaurants, mostly either larger chain businesses or mom and pop establishments. Close to the Opry Mills Mall and the Grand Ole Opry.
Donelson/ Hermitage
Full of music, entertainment, nightlife, restaurants, hotels, and businesses. Home to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Bridgestone Arena, and famous honky-tonk landmarks such as Tootsie’s and Blake Shelton’s Ole Red. Housing is largely high-rise luxury apartments and condos.
Downtown
Ever-growing and artsy neighborhood with a large variety of both trendy and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, dive bars, smaller music venues, shopping, and hipster coffee shops. Home to Shelby Bottoms greenway. Many types of housing including single-family homes, apartments, and townhouses, with mostly young adults and families.
East Nashville
Plenty of shopping, dining, and bars. Home to many music and recording studies, including the Historic RCA Studio B and BMI. Mostly individual homes with a mix of families and young adults.
Edgehill/ Music Row
Very walkable, residential neighborhood along brick sidewalks with many shops, bars, and restaurants including the original Monell’s. Lots of Victorian homes that double as residences and businesses. Home to Nashville’s minor league baseball team and the Nashville Farmer’s Market.
Germantown
Just outside of Nashville, Goodlettsville offers a quieter suburban environment with plenty of parks, shopping, and dining.
Goodlettsville
Home to the upscale Green Hills Mall, trendy restaurants and high-end shops. Variety of grocery stores including Whole Foods and Trader Joes. Mostly higher-rent housing including single-family homes and some apartment complexes.
Green Hills
Luxurious neighborhood with high-end shops, boutique hotels, trendy restaurants and bars, and many of Nashville’s iconic murals, also featuring the newly reconstructed Gulch Greenway. A great neighborhood for those wanting to be in the heart of the action.
The Gulch
Located northeast of Nashville, this suburb offers spacious homes and neighborhoods with plenty of outdoor activities and a historic downtown center.
Hendersonville
Mix of apartment buildings and older homes, occupied by college students, young adults, and families. Located near Vanderbilt University to the North and Belmont University to the Southwest. Walkable neighborhood with plenty of boutiques, restaurants, and home to Nashville staples Pancake Pantry and the Belcourt Theater.
Hillsboro Village
Includes Hadley Park and Buchanan Arts District. Home to two HBCUs—Tennessee State University and Fisk University. Mostly families and individual houses with a variety of businesses, restaurants, and shops along historic Jefferson Street, where the African Street Festival is held annually.
Historic North Nashville
Residential, family neighborhood with a mix of older and new builds. Plenty of shopping available at the Rivergate Mall. Also close to the Opry Mills Mall and the Grand Ole Opry.
Madison/ Old Hickory
Fun antique shopping, Zanies Comedy Club, and the historic Melrose Billiards Pool Hall. A fun neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of downtown with a growing number of condos and apartment complexes.
Melrose/ 8th Avenue South
Slightly far out from Nashville’s center, but has everything you need with Providence Shopping Mall and a growing list of new developments. Great for families.
Mt. Juliet
Fast-changing neighborhood full of trendy shopping, coffee shops, dive bars, and restaurants with a mix of older homes and new builds. Lots of young adults and young families. Home to Fat Bottom Brewery.
The Nations
South of Broadway's honky tonks and neon lights is an area called SoBro, home to the Music City Center convention center, popular restaurants, attractions, cocktail bars, and trendy hotels.
Sobro
This neiborhood features the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center and the iconic Grand Ole Opry in addition to great dining and shopping options.
Opryland/ Music Valley
Walkable, residential neighborhood near McCabe golf course and greenway, alongside community rec center and ballfields. Variety of small businesses and restaurants. Mostly single-family homes.
Sylvan Park
Very artsy neighborhood known as “We-Ho”, home to many galleries, trendy restaurants, distilleries, and laid-back bars. Variety of housing, including apartments, newer condos, and single-family homes.
Wedgewood-Houston
Full of bars, restaurants, and music venues, with a lively nightlife scene adjacent to Vanderbilt University. Housing is mostly condos and apartments. Nearby Centennial Park, home to the Parthenon and many outdoor events and festivals throughout the year.
West End
Vibrant international community along the Nolensville Road corridor. Large number of restaurants and small businesses. Mostly single- family homes and larger apartment complexes. Near Plaza Mariachi and the Zoo at Grassmere.
